I think a lot about God’s timing. My nature is to get ahead of God’s schedule, and when I do, I tend to experience many impediments and frustrations that slow things down, slower than I want anyway. I’m pretty sure the Lord has been teaching me to properly number my days and wait on Him in these things, whether they are large or small.

But when it is His timing, it’s amazing how things fall into place. Scripture calls these moments of God’s timing ‘Kairos’ time

The use of the word ‘kairos’ in scripture communicates ‘opportune time.’ It also implies that what happens in that moment is not merely convenient, but also a necessity. The meaning can even convey that kairos moments are times when certain foreordained events take place.

Maybe, like me, you’ve had experiences where suddenly, you find yourself in the right place at the right time, and a long buried dream or desire of your heart is fulfilled in ways that only God can do. Even if I don’t always like His timing, it is always right on time, never early or late.

Many of the followers of Key Ministry have personally experienced the challenges related to mental illness, in themselves, in a loved one, or both. In spite of the negative aspects of such experiences, often the best ideas and approaches for supporting people in challenging circumstances or developing new resources needed by individuals and families in such situations come from individuals who have ‘been there.’

If you’re a Christ-follower, you already know that God works all things together for good, to bless you and also others, even in the things that are difficult. That even applies to mental illness.

Today, I have two questions for you: do you have much in the way of lived experience with mental health issues? Do you have a dream or longing to do ministry work, but don’t quite know what you’re supposed to do?

If the answer to those questions is yes, I encourage you to attend Mental Health and the Church 2024. We’ve seen new ministries and approaches birthed and nurtured from our disability conferences, and seen the impacts accelerate disability ministry of every kind in church and para-church organizations across the US and beyond. No experience is wasted in God’s economy.

For me, one of the joys of my work is to help others find their unique ministry purpose. We very much desire that new ministries supporting mental health would be birthed from the Mental Health and the Church conference.

So bring your ideas, dreams and questions to Cleveland September 26 - 27, 2024, where you will hear outstanding presentations, have the opportunity to make new friends, and be equipped to take that step of faith into the work that God has already created for you and only you. I suspect that our Lord already has some Kairos moments in the works for this event, maybe for you! The entire Key Ministry team, as well as our prayer team, will be praying that this conference, on September 26 - 27, 2024, will be filled with Kairos moments and opportunities.
